London riots: Not guilty pleas over Reeves store fire

A man accused of starting a fire which destroyed a furniture store in Croydon during the London riots has pleaded not guilty to two counts of arson.

Gordon Thompson, of Waddon Road, Croydon, south London, was charged over the fire at House of Reeves Furniture Store on 8 August.

The 33-year-old was remanded in custody at Inner London Crown Court until his trial on 20 February.

He is also charged with three counts of burglary and one of violent disorder.

He will return to the court to enter pleas on these charges on 28 October.

The 150-year-old furniture store has since been demolished.
